  4.                 WELCOME TO THE MATRIX DEMO

  7.    The Matrix demo visualizes a 3D data set in several
  8.    different ways:
  9.  
  10.  
  11.    o  Velocity field
  12.       Each arrow represents a vector. This type of
  13.       plot can be used to show ice displacement,
  14.       slope gradient, oceanic current and more.
  15.  
  16.    o  Contour plot
  17.       The lines connect data items with equal values.
  18.  
  19.    o  Image
  20.       The X and Y coordinates correspond to the value
  21.       indicated by the axes. The Z coordinate is
  22.       represented by the color.
  23.  
  24.    o  Surface plot
  25.       The data values are shown in perspective,
  26.       giving a three dimensional view of the data set.
  27.  
  28.    o  Show3
  29.       This combines 3 different representations
  30.       of the same data set. The top has a contour
  31.       plot. The bottom has an image plot. In the
  32.       middle, there is a surface mesh.

  34.       The plot is drawn with the simple command :

  43.       Select "Quit" to exit the Matrix Demo and return
  44.       to the IDL Demo Main Screen.
